The Westin at Denver International Airport
Denver, CO
Scope:
This project included special care in design to control noise from aircraft over-flight, as well as the design of interior treatments in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and conference rooms.
Solutions:
Our initial evaluation included setting up site monitors to record aircraft noise exposure to the site of the new hotel. This portion of our study determined that noise from the bus ramps would cause higher noise levels than the aircraft operations. We then worked to design the building to support our design criteria based on the noise levels. Our recommendations included details for walls, plumbing isolation, mechanical systems, and vibration isolation. In addition to our mechanical evaluation which addressed noise to sensitive spaces, our architectural recommendations included ballrooms, meeting rooms, guestrooms, and treatments for the lobby and pre-function spaces.
